Waterproofs.
Wellies or waterproof walking boots.
Plenty of layers to keep warm on a cold day.
The Forest School Site...
Our site brings together grassland, wildflower meadow, and woodland, creating a rich natural space for exploration and play. Children can enjoy:
Willow domes for quiet moments and imagination
A mud pit (and on rainy days, a brilliant muddy puddle)
A fire circle with seating for up to 20
Den‑building areas with natural materials
Climbable trees, a swing, and seasonal slackline or zipline
A small pavilion for shelter and group activities
It’s a space designed for curiosity, confidence, and joyful outdoor learning.
There is a single visitor toilet located by the bike sheds near to the school car park.
Threre is no running water available at the forest school area, but clean water is always available from a jerry can with soap for hand washing. It is a 5 minute walk to the toilet.
Behaviour Policy
t Tangled Roots Wild Learning, we aim to create a safe, positive and nurturing outdoor environment for every child. To help us do this, we ask that all children:
Listen to staff and follow safety instructions
Use tools and equipment responsibly
Respect nature, wildlife and the forest environment
Stay within agreed boundaries
Treat others with kindness and respect
We support children gently if they struggle, offering reminders, redirection and calm guidance.
If a child’s behaviour repeatedly puts themselves or others at risk, we may remove them from an activity or contact a parent/guardian to collect them early. This is always a last resort and used only to maintain safety.
We encourage open communication with families. If your child has additional needs or strategies that help them feel safe and regulated, please let us know so we can support them effectively.
